2000 - 2001 Cancy's Mission

President & Sister Hodson

I called them Papa & Mama Hodson, because that was what they were and would always be to me.

They both had so much love to give. They made me feel welcome, and showed genuine concern for us. They loved the Saviour and were a pillar of strength to the missionaries serving with them. They taught us correct principles, and led us by example.

One of the earliest experiences I had as a new missionary, was at a Sisters conference. It made me realise that this (Melbourne Mission) was my home for the next 18 months, and Papa and Mama Hodson were my parents for that time. Being around a circle of Sisters with our Papa and Mama Hodson really felt like a big family.

Sister Hodson always had have positive things to say about people. She made wonderful meals, and brought yummy treats at conference. She was also a great speaker and had ways of capturing our attention.

President Hodson was like a Dad to us. He had a way of counselling in a loving way. He supported his wife so much and respected and understood the role of females. He counselled the Elders to treat women in their life well.

They were the perfect mission parents and were a great example of what a husband and wife ought to be.
